Chartwell supports artists as they make and think. Making is an active and connected process, involving the interaction of intention, intuition and intellect with the mediums of the world. Chartwell is making too - making a difference through philanthropy and enabling access to creative activities and research.

Mladen Bizumic

Based in Vienna and Aotearoa New Zealand—Mladen Bizumic is a multidisciplinary artist who has exhibited extensively—including the 9th Lyon Biennial,10th Istanbul Biennial, 5th Busan Biennial, and 1st Auckland Triennial.

Bizumic received his BFA and MFA from the University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts and his PhD in cultural studies and art theory (advised by Diedrich Diederichsen & Stephen Zepke) from the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.

Bizumic’s artwork is held in major museum collections, including MUMOK – Museum of Modern Art, Vienna; George Eastman Museum, Rochester, New York; Te Papa Tongarewa – Museum of New Zealand, Wellington; MAK – Museum of Applied Arts and Contemporary Art, Vienna; Chartwell Collection – Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki; FRAC des Pays de la Loire, Nantes; Victoria University Art Collection, Wellington; Govett Brewster Art Gallery, New Plymouth; Hocken Collections –University of Otago, Dunedin; the Federal Photography Gallery – Museum der Moderne, Salzburg.
