John Hurrell

John Hurrell is a New Zealand art writer and artist who lives in Auckland. He is the editor of an online art debate forum called EyeContact. He studied painting at the University of Canterbury and has been the Curator at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Plymouth and the Waikato Museum of Art and History Te Whare Taonga o Waikato. In more recent years Hurrell has begun making sculpture. These he has exhibited at City Art Rooms, Snake Pit’s window vitrines and at Antoinette Godkin (with Paul Hartigan), Hartrell de Hurrigan, 2012. In 2014 he also participated in burster flipper wobbler dripper spinner stacker shaker maker in Christchurch Art Gallery’s Artbox.
