Amy Howden-Chapman is a New Zealand artist and writer, born in 1984. She has a Masters degree in Creative Writing, Victoria University, (2005) and an Honours degree in Art History, Victoria University, (2006). Her work has appeared throughout New Zealand, as well as in Australia and America. She is currently studying at Cal Arts in LA.

It feels like Los Angeles is a city that you can engage with as little or as much as you want. I think this has a lot to do with the way that you travel around the city, which for most people is by car - a car being primarily a private space. Living here you have to make a real effort to be on the street or on a bus or in any space which you are physically sharing with strangers. Read more
